Jim’s Garage Ford Rental Office
Office Graphic Design, Creation & Refurbishment
Objective
Provided with a blank canvas in the shape of an office that had sat empty for a few years, our client tasked us with creating a welcoming space for their car hire customers.
The graphics also had to be play a useful part in helping the rental team provide an almost interactive experience for their clients and leave them with a clear idea of how they would spend part of their holiday in Shetland driving to places that would provide great memories of their visit to our islands.
The old desk had to repurposed as it did not fit with the tourism aspect within the office, the old worktop had was a little bland and there had to be directional information included somewhere within the layout to draw attention to this new vehicle hire venue.
Sharp, colourful and attractive images were required to showcase the best that Shetland had to offer and, of course, the company branding or Jim’s Garage Ford Rental had to be prominent yet subtle.
Process
As there were many different surfaces from MDF, glass, plastic, glass and painted plasterboard to cover, selection of the correct materials was vital.
We were given a free hand to create the concept, produce artwork and get it all ready for production.
The Jim’s team were provided with an initial basic proof and we talked them through the idea of having graphics that would allow visitors to see all areas of Shetland and decide how far, how much time and the type of locations and sites they would like to experience.
From this a full map of Shetland was created and locations marked simply on the map, starting in the far north and in ascending numbering, ran all the way the southernmost point of the isles. This provided a very simple but effective key to help visitors plan their trips.
Printing on textured, matt wall vinyls for the walls, high tack material for the table legs and very durable architectural self-adhesive vinyl for the table tops began with the window graphics being reverse cut so they could be placed on the inside of glass. These helped direct customers into the new premises and included office opening times. Logos were placed on the two entrance doors as a finishing touch.
